Exploring NIKKOR Lenses: Mongolia – AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR

With an area of approximately 1.6 million square kilometres, Mongolia has a diverse landscape and is covered with vast grasslands stretching as far as the eye can see. To capture the wide open spaces in all its glory, professional Nikon photographer Scott A. Woodward chose the AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR.

The AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR is a ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that covers a viewing angle between 107° to 63° (83° to 44° with Nikon DX format DSLR cameras), which is great for capturing a wide variety of situations, from interiors to landscapes. Equipped with a Vibration Reduction (VR) system that reduces blur caused by camera shake, this lens is capable of achieving sharp images even when shooting handheld. This makes it easier for Scott and Chantal to photograph the golden hour at sunset.

Once night sets in, switch off the VR mode and mount your camera on a tripod for added stability. This is extremely useful for when you are shooting astrophotography or landscapes in the dark. Most cameras can be set with up to 30-second exposures. For longer exposures, simply attach the MC-36A Remote Cord on your camera to use the Bulb Mode.

If you would like to capture expansive landscapes, the AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR is the perfect lens for you.
