Over the last 8 years, Josh has been absorbed in photography. Something that started as a fun activity, quickly evolved into much more!
Fortunate enough to have the Great Ocean Road and the Grampians National Park at his doorstep, Josh was able to evolve his skill in different environments, which then led to photographing around the world!
In 2018 he took on photography full time and started out shooting weddings, properties and everything in between. For the past couple of years, Josh has been a Nikon School Lecturer, running regular classes, online and out in the field - sharing his knowledge with the photography community.
One of Josh’s biggest achievements was becoming a Nikon Z Creator. The opportunity to create content for a brand he loves and believes in, has been a dream come true!
Throughout my photographic journey, I’ve relied on the strength, durability and technical advances of the Nikon range to help me capture images I once could only have dreamed of!
My style consists of moody landscapes and dramatic foregrounds. Creating a dynamic scene would have to be my favourite - utilising ultra close subjects whilst having a tack sharp background. I achieve this using the “Focus Shift” function on my Z 6II & Z 7II. An absolute game changer of a feature, eliminating any error you would incur during a manual focus stack.
I have been known to get my gear rather wet as I shoot in some pretty testing conditions! The weather sealing in the Z series is a huge creative advantage. Being able to focus on what I am shooting rather than worrying about how my gear is fairing is super important too me.
The live view of the Z range was a major reason why I shifted to mirrorless. Being able to see real-time exposure in a fast moving environment is crucial to capturing the desired file.
