Raise the bar with Nikon's new NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S.
The latest addition to the NIKKOR S-Line is a mid-telephoto micro lens capable of capturing those larger-than-life moments.
Sydney, Australia – 2 June 2021 – Nikon Australia is pleased to announce its new micro lens, NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S, marking its latest addition to the NIKKOR Z S-Line. Capable of life-size shooting, the ground-breaking optical lens maximises its potential for performance and superior rendering capabilities.
"Nikon is excited to launch the NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S, which is honed through customer feedback, to help photographers express their creativity and style. This new lens will be perfect for those who use the environment to capture flora, insects, people, and landscape as their muse. It'll also be a great lens for food or product hobbyists to showcase their crafts." - John Young, General Manager, Marketing, Nikon Australia.
NIKKOR Z MC 105MM F/2.8 VR S PRIMARY FEATURES
Capturing Every Fine Detail
Achieve beautiful, soft, and gentle bokeh with no visible colour bleed and minimal fringing around the edges of the frame through the use of ED lens elements which suppress chromatic aberration, while an aspherical lens element compensates for curvature of field from infinity to lose-up, keeping details sharp even at the edges of the frame. A layer of Nano Crystal Coat and ARNEO Coat are added to effectively reduce flare and ghosting caused by backlighting.
The NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S also adopts a multi-focus system with a new auto-focus (AF) drive system for increased optical performance, enabling fast and accurate focusing, even with close-up shooting, allowing users to enjoy a stress-free shooting experience.
Broad Power of Expression
Captivate your viewers with a vast possibility of visual expressions. The large maximum aperture of the NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S allows users to dramatically emphasise the primary subject with a shallow depth of field, creating a large and smooth background bokeh while keeping the main subject in sharp focus.
Outstanding Vibration Reduction (VR) performance that compensates up to 4.5-stops enables users with the option to shoot at a slower shutter speed while reducing camera shakes during low-light conditions. Combined with the in-camera body 5-axis image stabilisation system on selected camera models , users can shoot in a broad range of situations, from up-close stills to video recording.
Superior Focusing Performance
Capture those fleeting moments, even the smallest details, quickly and accurately, with a newly developed small-diameter, powerful high-torque stepping motor (STM) on the NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S. Extremely quiet with minimal lens operation sound, the lens will not easily startle insects and those elusive small-life creatures.
With the introduction of the focus limit switch, it allows users to limit the AF search range between 0.29m to 0.5m for precise and faster image focusing when shooting close up.
Built for Ease and Durability
Photographers who are always on the move will feel a difference when carrying the NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S, which weighs approximately 630g. Geared for different environments, the lens showcases its durability against dust and water droplets with the adoption of a rubber seal around the lens mount, while a layer of fluorine coating on the front lens element makes cleaning and repelling contaminants easier.
Exuberating elegance, the micro lens has its overall finishing in a satin texture and touch of metallic element across the entire body, including a new look for the NIKKOR S-Line emblem. The display panel also provides easy access to information such as aperture, shooting distance, and depth of field at a glance.
The NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S brings out the intrinsic details of the macro world.
Measured in accordance with CIPA standards in NORMAL VR mode. The vibration reduction effect decreases as the shooting distance decreases.
FX-Format Z series mirrorless camera models as of 2 June 2021.
The lens is not guaranteed to be dust- and drip-resistant in all situations or under all conditions.
The new NIKKOR Z MC 105mm f/2.8 VR S will be available from June. For information about the lens and other Nikon products, please visit www.nikon.com.au.

About the NIKKOR brand
NIKKOR is Nikon's brand of photographic lenses. The NIKKOR name arose from adding "r", a common practice in the naming of photographic lenses at the time the name was established, to "Nikko", the Romanised abbreviation for Nippon Kogaku K.K., the original name used when the company was established. In November 2018, Nikon announced its milestone achievement of 110 million in total production of NIKKOR lenses for Nikon interchangeable lens cameras.
