Meet the Speakers

Eddie Jim

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Eddie Jim is an award-winning staff photographer who has worked for numerous newspapers and magazines, including South China Morning Post and Apple Daily. Upon moving to Australia in the late 90’s, Eddie became a staff photographer for The Age and has since won numerous awards, including Best Feature Photography Essay Walkley Award, Most Outstanding News/Feature Photograph at Australian Football Media Awards, and Highly Commended News Photograph at Quill Awards.

Dean Lewins

Dean Lewins is a photographer at the Australian Associated Press and has also worked for, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Guardian, The Australian, Time. In 2018, Dean was named Nikon-Walkley Press Photographer of the Year. He has covered numerous sporting events, including the Commonwealth Games, the FIFA World Cup, the Australian Open tennis tournament, the Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race and the Ashes. Dean has also covered unforgettable moments, including the funeral of AC/DC founder Malcolm Young when his brother and co-founder Angus Young carried Malcolm’s prized Gretsch guitar.

Syd Low

Sydney Low is a freelance photographer from Melbourne covering international sports, news and events. Sydney has worked for numerous image agencies and event rights holders and has covered the Australian Open tennis tournament, Formula 1, MotoGP, Superbikes, UCI Cycling, Soccer and general news events in Melbourne, The French Open and the FIS World Ski Championship events in Europe. His work has been published in print and online at Sports Illustrated, EPSN, Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, Bild, Stern, The Times UK, as an example, and his soccer photos have been exhibited in the National Sports Museum at the MCG. He also founded a podcast on sports photography in 2011 called Big Lens Fast Shutter.

Morgan Sette

Morgan Sette is a photographer and creative industry professional based in Adelaide. Completing a photojournalism cadetship with AAP led her to freelance for news, current affairs and major events across a range of agencies (like Reuters, News Ltd, AFP). Her  roots lie in music and lifestyle photography, which has landed her some sweet photography gigs for a stack of reputable arts organisations, individuals and brands. 2022 is looking good, with mostly time put away for Tourism Australia. Currently, Morgan is keeping herself busy by working as a freelance  photojournalist as well as freelancing in photography, videography and creative direction and operating her own creative commune and photography studio, Upstairs Studio.
