Sydney, Australia, 8 March 2024 - Nikon Australia proudly announces partnership with inspiring filmmaker, Divya Gordon, for the upcoming documentary, MAVEN, hitting cinema screens across Australia from April to June.

MAVEN captures a different perspective on exploration, both of the Australian backcountry and oneself, showcasing and celebrating a group of female adventurers who call the Snowy Mountains home.

The documentary follows athlete, Chess Smee, as she takes on her aspirations for the season, including scaling Australia's 11 highest peaks in one day. Chess’s energy and drive for adventure is contagious and its through her eyes you are met with other members of the women’s backcountry community in the Australian Alps.

To bring her vision to life, Divya shot the entire film with a Z 8 camera, perfect for capturing adventure videography and stills, all supplied by Nikon Australia. Divya said "I chose the Z 8 for its colour science, high frame rates and resolution capabilities. It's also super lightweight and versatile, perfect for capturing stills when you're in position on a mountain and are looking for that poster shot.

"8k looks really good in high detail locations like the Australian outback and saves a two camera setup when conducting interviews. Working with a Nikon kit made the filming process a lot easier, with lenses allowing us to perch on opposing ranges and getting close up shots of skiers in the distance, whilst securing the best shots of the Snowy Mountains and doing their beauty justice."

Divya continues to carve her path as an adventure filmmaker, climbing peaks and working on projects that capture extraordinary stories in unexplored landscapes. To experience the adventure for yourself, MAVEN premiers in Sydney on Thursday 11 April, 2024 at the Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace, followed by a tour sweeping across Australia in May.
